Technological Breakthrough: Seamless Transition from Pixels to Fabric
Is the digital transformation of the garment or fashion industry a technological disruption or an essential path for industry upgrading? FabriX partner with Style3D from Zhejiang is reshaping the entire industry chain, from design to production, with innovative 3D digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. At the 2025 Paris Fashion Week, “Tomorrow Was_____” showcased fragments told through time in a 10-day multisensory media exhibition at Palais de Tokyo, Paris. In Hong Kong, Airside, the “Play, Pose & Pixel” Digital Fashion Exhibition, part of the Fashion Fest program, features FabriX and Style3D joining forces for the very first time. Together, we explore the intersection of fashion, technology, and culture, transforming imagination into digital experiences.
Redefining Creative Efficiency
“Currently, only 5% -10% of the fashion industry has undergone digitalisation. Unlike conventional 3D modeling software, Style3D is designed with the needs of the fashion industry, ensuring seamless integration with existing computer-aided design (CAD) systems.”
– Chief Operating Officer of Style 3D, Alfie Chen
Style3D leverages graphics processing units (GPUs) to advance 3D simulation technology, achieving high-precision fabric simulations that capture intricate texture details. At both exhibitions, FabriX’s signature AR try-on mirrors were supported by the Style3D team, bringing designs from seven designers — Alain Paul, Caroline Hu, Didu, Kevin Germainer, Derek Chan, Tiger Chung, Brun Chan — to life with impeccable 3D simulations.
A collection of 13 AR try-on lenses were transformed by the 3D support, restoring the qualities of materials found in a red chiffon dress by Alain Paul, a fur jacket by Didu, and the complex cutting patterns of couture, involving draping and structural shapes of intricate designs from Caroline Hu.
Kids as young as 3 years old can enjoy the fun of being dressed in couture pieces, while a more mature audience engages with the fast-paced, interactive technology at the “Play, Pose & Pixel” digital fashion exhibition. Fashionistas from Paris Fashion Week, including buyers and industry elites, can provide candid feedback to designers through the AR try-on kiosk, supported by data that ensures accurate inventory for production.
AI × 3D: Powering Digital Productivity
“The integration of AI with 3D tools allows users to generate high-quality digital products, significantly boosting productivity and supporting the digitization of the fashion industry.”
– Chief Executive Officer of Style 3D, Eric Liu
Style3D’s innovations earned it a place among the Just Style Excellence Awards 2024 winners for “accelerating 3D digital workflows and empowering design-to-manufacturing innovation.”
By integrating AI with physics-based simulation, designers can transform sketches or reference images into editable 3D garments. The system automatically recognizes garment structure, builds accurate patterns, and produces realistic visualizations. Its AI modules further assist in generating surface textures, color variations, and video-based visualizations. This workflow not only enhances design efficiency but also shortens the distance between creativity and production.
Making Digital Fashion an Experience: FabriX × Style3D
Generation Z is not buying clothes; they are purchasing social currency. The trend of listing 3D design files directly on e-commerce platforms allows consumers to virtually try before they buy, providing a real solution to inventory and overproduction problems.
At both exhibitions, FabriX invited audiences to “step into different touchpoints of the possible future of digital fashion,” turning technology into a part of the narrative rather than just a backdrop. The integration of AR with Roblox game skins, along with the support of Style3D’s AI and cloud services, became a showstopper for many audience members who lined up to create avatars dressed in the featured designers’ works.
For these two collaborations, we embraced technologies and the digital fashion experience, putting them into actual practice through a fun and accessible approach for the public. This curatorial experiment educates the audience, providing a stepping stone into the digital revolution currently taking place in the garment and fashion industry. We are using digital tools to reshape how fashion is experienced and remembered.
From Technical Innovation to Industry Ecosystem
Unlike traditional 3D tools, Style3D’s strength lies in its end-to-end industry integration. The company connects design, sampling, and production through the Style3D Cloud, enabling teams to collaborate in real time and manage digital assets efficiently.
Fashion has transcended its role as a mere visual artifact; it has blossomed into a vibrant, multidimensional digital experience! The powerful combination of Style3D’s cutting-edge AI and 3D technology with FabriX’s imaginative curatorial storytelling creates an exhilarating foundation for this transformation. Together, we’re turning technology into a dynamic new language of fashion, igniting creativity and redefining how we experience style!
As Eric Liu emphasised, the goal of digital fashion is not to replace the physical but to redefine connection. Grounded in this collaboration, it is reasonable to anticipate that AI and 3D will continue to co-evolve within creative industries, driving greater speed, flexibility, and sustainability across the fashion ecosystem.
