Known as the mastermind behind over 120 strikingly-designed costumes showcased at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Swiss designer Kevin Germanier’s approach centres on meticulous craftsmanship, intricate detailing, and a bold haute couture sensibility. His designs—which embrace a bold, futuristic utopian aesthetic, characterised by sculptural jackets, glitter-strewn dresses and sharply spliced skirts—were made famous in 2015 when he featured discarded beads sourced from Hong Kong in his work,a concept that won him the 2015 Redress Award.
Germanier’s creations balance whimsy and ingenuity, transforming upcycled materials into wearable art with arresting precision. In 2018, Germanier launched his eponymous label to resolutely push the boundaries of eco-conscious luxury, breaking away from the traditional image of eco-fashion. His unique creations have since been worn by global icons including Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Kristen Stewart, Björk and Sunmi. Germanier is recognised by Forbes’ 30 Under 30 and celebrated by prestigious fashion awards. He now presents his collections as part of the official Paris Fashion Week schedule, where he continues to redefine modern couture with joy and energy.
