An Interview with the Hong Kong Local Fashion Designer Yat Pit
Central to the showcase at ComplexCon is FabriX’s partnership with three emerging designers, carefully selected for their distinctive aesthetics, shared vision and savviness in social, trend and technology with FabriX. Yat Pit is among the featured designers who continues to celebrate its love for art, culture, and Chinese traditions at ComplexCon Hong Kong 2025.
Yat Pit is a visionary fashion brand founded by Jason Mui and On-Ying Lai in 2015. The name “Yat Pit”, meaning “the first stroke” in Cantonese, reflects their mission to revive and reinterpret Chinese culture through fashion. Based in Hong Kong, Yat Pit challenges the dominance of Western aesthetics by drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese garments and infusing them with a modern, cross-cultural perspective.
Selected by FabriX to represent Hong Kong’s unique East-meets-West DNA, the brand presents its SS2025 collection that reimagines ancient Chinese dressing through modern interpretations. Each piece brings a new dialogue and fresh perspectives on how heritage and modernity intersect in contemporary fashion.

Yat Pit’s newest collection presents striking designs, such as a popular adaptable white sleeveless top favored by working professionals. Inspired by calligraphic fluidity, the collection offers a refined and extensive selection. Each piece, from a chic mesh top to a distinctive hand-tied knot waist bag, radiates modern sophistication. The contemporary twisted cargo pants feature prints reminiscent of vibrant bamboo forests, incorporating natural allure. Notably, the twist top nods to the tailored grace of the qipao, blending classic aesthetics with a modern sensibility.
